End the practice of modern ‘forced adoption’ via the family court system.
In the UK today, forced adoption is still occurring, via the family court system. The parental consent is disposed of by ‘order of the court’, basically this is now court appointed forced adoption. There are many vulnerable parents getting their children wrongfully adopted in a broken system.
We are asking the government to amend the Children’s Act to ensure that vulnerable parents (those with disabilities, mental health conditions, learning disabilities) are provided with support rather than their children being subject to court proceedings. Parental consent to adoption must NOT be disposed of via court orders (CA s21 2b parental consent disposal). S52 1a – recommends dispensing consent of parents that ‘lack capacity’ under the Mental Capacity Act 2005. These clauses have to change.
