I’m feeling slightly better today but I have slept a lot and kept myself topped up with caffeinated drinks. I got up early for my food shop delivery. Then I had the best intentions to stay up. I tried for a few hours until I felt like I needed a nap. I managed to wash and put a conditioning treatment on my hair. I had to do that task because my scalp was getting itchy with a yucky pulling feeling due to going a few days passed it’s weekly wash. I find that a huge task as I have masses of thick hair. I have to put treatment on it once a week as it’s prone to going frizzy. I’m hoping that the extra sleep will stop me feeling exhausted enough to get other things done. I couldn’t sleep last night as I knew that I had to be up quite early.
The topic of the city and county councils merging has recently come up again. I support the plan but I’m aware that most locals are against it. I agree that this plan could potentially be abused by those in charge of the combined councils. Despite that potential problem, I still think that combining the city of Leicester and Leicestershire county’s councils would be helpful. Leicestershire as a council has always received the lowest amount of funding in the entire country. Leicester city council gets more funding than us and they have a smaller area to serve. If we combined all the council budgets together then it will be able to be more fairly spread between the county and city. The vulnerable within the county have suffered due to our lack of funding. The city have much more resources than us. We need those resources over in the county. The services we do have over in the county aren’t properly funded. Our schools in the county are constantly failing those with special educational needs. Mental health provision isn’t properly funded here. Those that have managed to access the help have been to the resources in the city. There is nothing useful within our side of the county. I can’t speak for the other side because I’m not a resident there. I just think that people should take into consideration that the merger idea isn’t something that should just be dismissed without exploring how the reality would be in the event that the merge went ahead.
